about Sydney motorways

Sydney Orbital Network

Sydney's Orbital network is complete, making getting around Sydney easier than ever. With the opening of the Lane Cove Tunnel, there are over 160 kilometres of uninterrupted motorways, freeways and other main roads around and through Greater Sydney.

The Cross City Tunnel, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour Tunnel, Westlink M7, Lane Cove Tunnel and the Military Road E-Ramps are fully electronic using electronic tags or passes for toll payments. With no toll booths, motorists can use these roads without stopping and queuing to pay their toll, saving time, money, fuel and the environment.

All other motorways accept electronic tags as well as cash, with toll plazas located along the road for motorists to pay the toll.

Please use the left hand menu for information about each of the motorways, including contact details and toll payment options.

Changes to Sydney Harbour Bridge tolling

The Sydney Harbour Bridge changed to cashless tolling on 11 January 2009.

  • To pay the toll, you need an electronic tag or a toll pass.
  • If you use the Harbour Bridge without a tag or pass, register for an RTA E-Toll pass within 48 hours of your trip at myRTA.com or call 131 865.
